I've Gotta Block My FFL's Emails...
 

I've been trying to show some restraint during this pre-and post-election frenzy. But just when I start to resist the urge to buy more, my FFL sends me an email and I'm off the wagon again....

This time it was a Romanian SAR-1 AK-47. It was his personal weapon, and he says he has about 400 rds through it. Wanted $350 out-the-door. This isn't THE rifle, but here's what one looks like:

He also offered a Taurus M62 Pump in 22LR for $320. I got it because I like pumps, and I figured I could use my Super Colibris in it.

Man, the guy costs me money every time he invades my inbox! Oh well. What else would I use those worthless FRNs for anyway???

One of my friends has a Romy SAR-1, he can consistantly hit a golf ball at 50 yards with it. Pretty good price considering the buying frenzy going on now, I would take a SAR-1 over my WASR hi-cap anyday. I've been looking for one locally for awhile and haven't landed one yet.

I would snatch it up in a second.

Now you guys did it! That drum looks good! Too bad I don't get that warm, fuzzy feeling dealing with Atlantic. I don't like the "We might take a couple of days to anwser the phone/reply to your email," but "if you don't ensure availability and your item is out of stock, it'll cost you a $30 cancellation fee."

I've kinda had the ass with them anyway since they sent me regular AK mags instead of hi-cap Saiga mags. Had to ship them back on my dime, and they didn't even offer any kind of comp what-so-ever for it. I'll just keep looking....

I hear ya man I think I pretty much did the same thing, asked my guy if he had any deals on colt 1911 and ended up with an 870 and a CETME LOL

Which leads to wonder what happened to my plan of getting a 1911.

Yea I;ve got one more glock to get rid of it's a 23 and a p91dc, i swapped my glocks for springfield xd's, i like them much better :D

These are chinese drums. On AMD 65's. I got the AMD 65's from Atlantic with ZERO issues.

That was more than two years ago though.

Lars, that's a pretty little .22 rifle. I shoot CCI CB Longs, 29gr@720fps that are about but BB-gun sound level. But my 10/22 requires me to one at a time. Not so with yours.

My WASR-10 has no reciever side-dimples, so is weaker there, since it was enlarged beyond it's original design, legally, to take double-stack hi-caps... and my mag well is in fact a bit wobbly as a result, but functions fine and should get no worse.
I know you got a fantastic deal on a SAR-1, a nice rifle! That's a chrome-lined bore, and it was well taken care of I'm sure...

Any WHY ? ........Ah-ha ~ penetration boys......that MF 30-cal goes thru walls and will kill ya just on close shots.

Sorry AR boys but the 223 can't hack it for penetration ~ gotta get a bigger round for that chit.

I know, it sux having a tacticool rifle with all that mall ninja crap & a lowly Chinese peasant can best ya with his shoddy AK.

Isn't there a chance of those getting jammed in the barrel? I thought those rounds were meant for shorter barrels, like hand guns and such.

Edit: For short range, an AK is devastating. But I wouldn't trust it for long range shots.

When I bought them, I priced them at Midway and CheaperthanDirt. You are correct - both sites had the disclaimer that they were to be used in pistols only, just for that reason.

Then I read the several dozen reviews on the ammo. Nearly every one of the reviewers said they shoot it out of a long gun with zero problems.

I ordered them so I could take care of the rodents that started overrunning my birdfeeders on my 1/4 acre suburbia patch. I started using them in my Marlin-Glenfield Model 25 bolt action with great results. Haven't had a round stick yet. But the warning isn't meaningless - it forces you remain vigilant about making sure the round actually went downrange and isn't still in your barrel.

Don't forget, those rounds are made in Mexico. You never know when you'll end up with a screwy primer. Once one is lodged in the barrel, good luck getting it out. Shoot safe and good luck.
